This is electronica that avoids over-complexity and is aimed at expressing ideas
in the most natural way possible. The music expresses ideas and
evokes environments, landscapes and memory rather than focussing on the technology and techniques used.
Northcape is not scared to experiment but is not concerned
whether the music fits into any particular sub-genre, and in the process has developed a
clean, distinctive and strongly melodic sound that may well appeal to fans of like-minded
artists such as Boards of Canada, Ulrich Schnauss and Global Communication.
Although most tracks don't have lyrics,
they are all drawn strongly from personal experience.

Northcape is the ongoing work of a self-taught British artist (currently living in Brighton, England)
who has been producing electronic music for quite some time, initially on a single Yamaha synthesiser before progressing to his current software-based system.
Northcape has been active in the online music community for some time,
and has gained many fans (with well over 100,000 plays on last.fm alone)
and widespread recognition and positive feedback for the quality of his music.
Northcape's tracks have been played at
The London Glitchnight at the Vibe Bar, London, received airplay
on a number of internet radio stations including repeated airtime on
Dandelion Radio, the radio station inspired by the late John Peel,
and the most recent EP was released through long-running and well-respected netlabel monotonik
which has released many well-known artists in the IDM and demoscenes. A track has also been included on the compilation 'Sunset Surf Chill' released by Diventa Music in 2009.
Northcape has been interviewed by Computer
Music Magazine in summer 2008, as part of a feature on lo-fi electronica.
Current work brings in
influences from a wide range of styles including IDM, electronica, shoegaze and ambient music.
Northcape contines to progress from strength to strength and the new album 'Captured From Static', released by US independent label Sun Sea Sky Productions in April 2010,
is the culmination of an extended period of work refining and developing the Northcape sound.
You can read a review of the album in Redefine magazine.
